Dear Members,
Welcome back to Oxford for what promises to be an exciting term for the Oxford Bar Society. I am honoured to be your President for the forthcoming term and hope the events we have organised will provide useful insight into careers at the Bar.
The committee has been working hard over the Easter vacation to organise events that cover aspects of the profession across a range of different practice areas. We have arranged exclusive opportunities to meet barristers practising in areas including family, employment and commercial law. We also have many opportunities for members to visit London, including dining in the beautiful Elizabethan hall of Middle Temple and visiting the Supreme Court. There are a number of other events currently in negotiation so watch out for more details in our emails and on our Facebook page.
This term marks the Oxford Bar Society’s second year and to celebrate we are hosting a Garden Party on 5th May in Jesus College. This summer afternoon of sparkling wine and nibbles on the quad promises to be fantastic way to meet prominent barristers from a range of sets, as well as other students who are interested in careers at the Bar. Sign up early to secure your place.
This term’s mooting programme includes mooting workshops from BPP Law School and top commercial set Quadrant Chambers. Extra mooting opportunities are currently being organised so keep an eye out for updates. If you have any queries, suggestions or requests, please do not hesitate to email me at president@oxfordbarsoc.com.
I hope you all have a brilliant term and I look forward to seeing you at our events.
Best wishes,

Chris Yarrow
